MIT Team
Every more or less successful Blackjack player knows about Edward O. Thorp's book "Beat the Dealer: A Winning Strategy for the game of Twenty One". He wrote his book when he worked as a professor of mathematics at MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology).
At the beginning it was a group of students which gathered together for playing Blackjack. Later it turned into a club in which only people with certain skills could get a membership. The team became known as MIT Blackjack Team.
They put into action theories from Thorp's book, mathematical calculations and attacked the weaknesses of casino's systems. The main team's technics were card counting, shuffle tracking and card steering. The MIT Team won millions of dollars and struck terror into casinos all around the world. They were undetectable for years.
James Grosjean
Grosjean was a student of the Chicago University when he started to exercise Blackjack professionally. He could calculate numbers on the spot. In 2000 his book "Beyond Counting: Exploiting Casino Games from Blackjack to Video Poker" was released.
The calculations in this book are very easy to understand. Also the author of the book describes some other casino games, such as 3 Card Poker, Let It Ride and Caribbean Stud and how to take an advantage of them.
Also James Grosjean is known for his advocacy for players' civil rights. Grosjean won several cases against such famous casinos as Caesar's Palace and Imperial Palace. He was awarded hundreds of dollars.
Lawrence Revere
Revere was a professional gambler and Blackjack player, card dealer and author of the "Playing Blackjack as a business". Other people considered Revere a controversial person because he lived on both sides of gambling: he was both gambler and dealer.
